For my first publicly released app, I am working on an improvement to an app I bought some time ago for my android phone.
Targetted at Gingerbread and higher it is an auto call answering app that also manages the bluetooth radio which saves battery power by only enabling the bluetooth radio when a phone call is ringing and turn it off when the call is ended.
An app that answers the phone and sends the audio to the earphone or speakerphone is only useful in a car or whilst walking around. On a motorbike however, the requirement to activate the bluetooth radio on demand is not so much a desire but a necessity. Personally I have a BT enabled Tom Tom GPS on the handle bars and a Scala Rider BT headset mounted inside my helmet which also has a line in for mp3 audio.
I intend to play music on the phone through the headphone socket but when the phone rings, activate the bluetooth radio and connect to a preferred BT device – saving time in creating the connection which is where many of the other BT auto activate apps seem to fail. If the preferred BT device is not in range, then yes I will search for other paired devices and connect to one with audio headset features.
Programming is well under way with many features already working well. There is still quite a way to go before public testing can commence, but if there are interested people, please leave a comment below to be included in the trial.
It will be available in the google play store when complete.
